Connect Plus is a joint venture business between Balfour Beatty and Atkins. Responsible for managing a 30 year term maintenance contract of the M25 orbital motorway, which also includes the introduction of a further lane between various junctions.
Workplace Concepts were appointed by Connect Plus to provide a turnkey service for creating a new mobilisation office. The general scope of works included:
Due Diligence – pre-acquisition surveys:
- Detailed dimensional survey & place building on Auto CAD
Pre-tender:
- Develop the Client’s requirements
- Concept & detailed design
- Prepare tender packages
Contract:
- Dismantle and dispose of existing redundant office furniture
- Re space plan the ground floor to provide a professional working environment for existing and new staff.
- Utilise existing furniture from an existing site in London
- Specify and procure additional Herman Miller furniture to accommodate additional head count
- Install full height storewall units
- Reposition floor boxes to facilitate new general arrangement
- Infrastructure voice and data cabling (CAT 5e)
- Take up existing carpet tiles and relay on completion
- Undertake full move management of Clients equipment and documentation
Post-contract:
- Provide ongoing support as headcount increases
Points of interest:
Connect Plus advised that they had a limited budget to carry out the above works. Therefore WCL need to develop a scheme that would require the minimum amount of alteration works to the building services. These works also needed to be carried out and completed during their Christmas shutdown.
